  21. Yes, LightWave in Toaster 4000 will include an Imagine loader, as
  22. well as the previous DXF, 3D Studio, Wavefront and Swivel loaders.
  23. All of them have been improved beyond what was present in Toaster
  24. version 2.0.

  26. The family tree is like this:  In the beginning was InterChange v1.x.
  27. Several years ago, we began work on IC v2.0, improving the surface
  28. definitions and support for very large objects.  This code was
  29. released in the form of the TIO Converters in Toaster 2.0 before it
  30. became InterChange Plus v2.0.

  32. By the time ICP v2.0 was ready, we'd already improved the high-end
  33. Converter translations beyond what was in Toaster 2.0, so if you
  34. bought one of these add-on Converters for ICP, you did get something
  35. that was newer and better than what was in Toaster.  (Of course, any
  36. InterChange Converter is more powerful than what's in the Toaster,
  37. simply because the Toaster's TIO system only imports and the ICP
  38. Converters let you export to each format, too.)

  40. We've greatly improved the Wavefront Converter.  Wavefront stores its
  41. model info in two files, a geometry file and a materials file. Often,
  42. people don't have the material file, so we've made the Converter
  43. "guess" at the surface definitions based on the material name alone,
  44. which is the only reference to the surface in the material file.  So
  45. if your Wavefront object references a material like "lt_grn", we
  46. correctly interpret that as a surface that's colored "light green".
